A follower sent us this photo from Old Mill High School in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. Hanging in the girls’ bathroom is a sign declaring that students may use whichever bathroom “matches their expressed gender identity.” In other words, boys who declare themselves girls are free to enter girls’ private spaces.
This isn’t about protecting girls. This is about Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) pushing an agenda at the expense of female students. The district is telling young women they must accept the presence of biological males in their restrooms—or risk being accused of discrimination.
The Safety and Privacy Trade-Off
Bathrooms exist as private spaces for a reason. Forcing girls to share those spaces with boys—regardless of how those boys “identify”—undermines safety, privacy, and basic decency. The school system has effectively told its female students: your comfort does not matter, your boundaries do not matter, your rights do not matter.
Unequal Enforcement?
According to reports, these signs are posted in girls’ bathrooms but not boys’ bathrooms. If true, this makes the policy even more insulting. Girls are being forced to accept the invasion of privacy, while boys’ spaces remain protected. Why the double standard?
AACPS’s Priorities
AACPS claims this policy is about inclusivity and support. But inclusivity for one group should not mean erasure of another. Girls deserve protection from situations that put them at risk of harassment, intimidation, or worse. Instead of standing up for their female students, AACPS is bending to ideology and leaving girls vulnerable.
A Question for Parents
Why is the Anne Arundel County school system so willing to sacrifice the safety and dignity of young women? Why should parents entrust their daughters to a district that refuses to protect their most basic right to privacy?
Until AACPS restores policies rooted in biological reality and common sense, parents should demand accountability. Protecting girls should not be controversial.
