Wes Moore on Clooney’s Yacht While Maryland Crumbles

Maryland Governor Wes Moore has a choice: tackle his state’s crime crisis head-on, or enjoy the good life on George Clooney’s yacht in Lake Como, Italy. He’s made his choice.

Photos show Moore and his wife soaking up the Italian sun while Baltimore, the crown jewel of dysfunction in Maryland, continues to spiral. Drug overdoses, carjackings, and violent assaults aren’t taking a vacation. Neither are the taxpayers footing the bill for Moore’s ambitions.

Escaping Maryland’s Real Problems

Baltimore’s homicide rate has dropped slightly in the past year, but the city still suffers from staggering violence, failing schools, and hollowed-out neighborhoods. Across Maryland, families deal with crumbling infrastructure, skyrocketing costs of living, and police departments stretched thin.

That’s the backdrop for Moore’s luxury getaway—a backdrop he can’t simply yacht away from. Leaders are judged by how they prioritize, and at this moment Marylanders deserve a governor in the trenches, not hobnobbing with Hollywood elites in Europe.

Clooney’s Political Machine

George Clooney is more than an actor. He’s a political operator with international connections and a reputation for grooming Democrats for higher office. Joe Biden, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton—Clooney has been there, fundraising and hosting, making sure the right faces rise to the top.

Now Wes Moore finds himself in that circle. Call it “candidate finishing school” on Lake Como. The optics are clear: Moore isn’t content with Annapolis. He’s already thinking bigger. Maryland may just be a stepping stone on the way to the White House.

The Bronze Star Question

And while Moore is busy polishing his national brand, Marylanders should revisit the controversy surrounding his military record—specifically his Bronze Star. Questions about how it was awarded and how Moore has presented it linger beneath the surface. Instead of addressing them openly, Moore is leaning on celebrity sheen to distract from uncomfortable scrutiny.

The Message to Maryland

At the end of the day, this isn’t just about one yacht trip. It’s about priorities, loyalty, and leadership. While regular Marylanders grind through traffic, crime, and bills, their governor is thousands of miles away chasing photo-ops with George Clooney.

If this is what Moore does less than two years into his first term, what happens when the presidential spotlight shines brighter? Maryland may discover its governor is more interested in being the next Obama than in being Maryland’s governor.

Baltimore doesn’t need a governor who vacations like a movie star. It needs one who works like a public servant.
