Globalists in Annapolis: Who Does Chris Van Hollen Really Work For?

It’s official: Maryland’s political class is more concerned about the feelings of foreign nationals with criminal indictments than the daily struggles of their own voters.

Just ask Senator Chris Van Hollen, who now wants Donald Trump to apologize to Kilmar Abrego García—a Salvadoran national who entered the country illegally, was wrongfully deported (by mistake), and is now back on U.S. soil facing federal charges for human smuggling.

Yes, you read that right.

Not only is García not a citizen—he’s now under criminal indictment. And somehow, Van Hollen thinks Trump owes him an apology.

This is what representation looks like now? Not for your tax-paying family in Maryland—but for foreign nationals caught smuggling illegal migrants across U.S. highways?

Chris Van Hollen’s Apology Tour

Let’s break this down.

  • García was deported in error earlier this year, despite a court order delaying his removal.
  • He was returned after activists and politicians cried foul.
  • And then, in May 2025, he was indicted in a Tennessee-based human smuggling case involving a van full of migrants.
  • He is pleading not guilty. His lawyers say the case is political. The DOJ says the evidence is clear.

But forget all that. Chris Van Hollen isn’t focused on whether García broke the law. He’s demanding Trump say sorry to him and his family—for the trauma of being removed from the country he entered illegally, and where he allegedly trafficked others across state lines.

You truly cannot make this up.

Marylanders Left in the Dust

Meanwhile, what is Van Hollen doing for:

  • The single mom in Montgomery County crushed under child care costs?
  • The disabled veteran waiting 18 months for a hearing?
  • The working-class dad who lost custody of his kids because Maryland’s family courts are rigged and underfunded?
  • The Baltimore resident dodging bullets while the state shuts down police funding and power plants?
  • Traffic congestion that makes commuting a daily punishment?
  • Fentanyl overdoses, violent crime, and job loss in working-class areas across the state?

Nothing.

Because standing up for you doesn’t earn him points with the international NGO crowd. But defending a non-citizen in a politically hot immigration case? That’s worth headlines—and apparently, apologies from former presidents.

Who Is He Really Representing?

Van Hollen’s job is to represent Maryland. That includes Frederick, Hagerstown, Annapolis, and Dundalk. Not San Salvador.

And yet, time and again, he—and others like him—seem to prioritize border optics over border security, and foreign headlines over local heartbreak.

So we ask again: Who does Chris Van Hollen really work for?

Because it sure as hell isn’t the Marylanders who go to work, follow the law, and just want their kids to be safe and educated.

The Real Danger

This isn’t about one case. It’s a pattern.

  • Defending criminals because of their immigration status.
  • Prioritizing the rights of border crossers over the needs of struggling citizens.
  • Calling for apologies to those who broke our laws while offering none to the Americans failed by this system every single day.

We have senators playing global grievance games while our state’s infrastructure, education, and energy grids fall apart.

Van Hollen isn’t a representative anymore. He’s a globalist performance artist.

The Globalist Class in Annapolis

Van Hollen is just the latest in a long line of Maryland Democrats more interested in playing international advocate than solving Maryland’s real problems.

  • Governor Wes Moore is busy pitching Maryland as the “Quantum Capital of the World,” while budget deficits balloon and crime surges.
  • Congressman Jamie Raskin can’t stop reliving January 6th, even as Baltimore’s homicide clearance rate collapses.
  • And now Van Hollen is channeling his energy into foreign-born defendants instead of taxpaying residents.

It’s become clear: These politicians don’t represent a constituency.
They represent an ideology—one that puts global optics ahead of local obligations.

A Government That Doesn’t Work for You

The U.S. Constitution protects all people under U.S. jurisdiction, yes—but the duty of elected officials is to prioritize the American people. That means you.

If Van Hollen is going to fight tooth and nail for someone facing federal charges for transporting undocumented migrants, why doesn’t he ever speak up for working-class Maryland parents fighting to keep their kids in their lives? Or veterans stuck in endless appeals? Or teachers crushed under union control?

He doesn’t. Because they don’t trend on social media. Because there’s no award for fighting for you—only for defending the right “narrative.”

Final Thought

Chris Van Hollen thinks Trump should apologize to Kilmar Abrego García. But maybe it’s Van Hollen who owes an apology—to the people of Maryland.

To the mom waiting for justice.
To the dad working three jobs.
To the child whose school can’t afford teachers—but whose senator can find time to defend a non-citizen criminal defendant in federal court.

This is Maryland under Democratic leadership.
A state where citizens get excuses—and criminals get empathy.

Call to Action:

Maryland voters deserve better. Demand leaders who work for you—not foreign defendants, not global agendas, and not Beltway cocktail circuit applause. Chris Van Hollen forgot who he works for. Don’t forget that on Election Day.
